Soybean cyst nematode is a parasite that feeds on the roots of soybean plants, significantly reducing their yield. Innatrix has identified specific genes in this nematode that are essential to its ability to survive and parasitize roots. We use gene silencing technology to block the function of those genes, so that the nematode can’t damage plants. Our product is applied to plants as a seed treatment or an in-furrow treatment. This technology provides farmers with a new way of controlling this pest, which is developing resistance to methods that are in current widespread use. It is safe for farmers and the environment because it is highly specific for this pest, and is nontoxic.
