Citrus greening, also known as Huanglongbing, is a bacterial disease that damages the fruit of citrus trees, and eventually kills the trees. Innatrix is developing novel methods to control this pathogen. We identify proteins that the bacteria produce that are essential to the infection process, and then design peptides that block the function of those bacterial proteins. Because the peptides are specifically designed to interact only with those proteins, and are biodegradable, they are nontoxic and safe for farmers and the environment.
